Building a 7'10" pike rod for a client and would like feedback on selecting the correct 'KR Group' for this application. I've built casting rods but this will be my first spinning rod so I'm not very familiar with the KR Concept sizing.
When looking at the recommended KR groups for 30-50lb braid use on Angler's Resource they recommend the following - 3 guide: KL25H, KL12H, KL5.5M, followed by runners, but a 25H just feels a bit oversized to me. It also mentions this group if I go down to 30lb braid - 3 guide: KL20H, KL10H, KL5.5M. There is also mentions of 4 guide groups but I don't think that would benefit me as stiff as this rod is. I believe the client plans to throw 40lb braid the majority of the time; should I trust the recommended sizing or could I get away with the smaller/lighter grouping? Thanks Re: Pike Rod - Stripper Guide Sizing

I’m pretty sure the KL20H based reduction train will work fine. What size reel he he using?

The KL20H based reduction train should work just fine.
