Re: Struggling with ridges on NFC X-Ray blank

Thanks David for your feedback on the value of the blanks even with the extra effort- I'll keep that in mind when I see another NFC sale pop up. I was hesitant to sand the blank because I didn't know what, if any, affect sanding would have on the performance. If I buy another X-Ray, I'll sand it and not bother the forum's "sages" with dumb questions.

Daniel, just order the mirror finish. No ridges, no sanding.

Agreed, there are definitely no dumb questions. I certainly didn't see any.

And as far as a difference in performance a sanded versus non sanded may have? I have no idea if it made a difference or not. I was more concerned with hating the texture of the blanks and the problem it would create in wrapping guides, than I was any affect it may have had on the blanks performance. I mean heck, it's only sanding off resin ridges. How much affect could it have?

At least that's the way I looked at it.
