Hey guys, it's been a while since I've done a spiral wrap and can't seem to find my notes of my last one..
I was going to do 10 at zero 8 at 90 and use 6's at 180 or are any of you having luck with micro running guides? Re: Simple spiral flipping stick

The guide at 90 needs to have a large enough ring so that the line never really touches it, other than just at the bottom (next to the rod blank). It's only purpose is to keep the line off the blank - not to redirect it. You can use a larger ring if need be and bend the frame to get it low to the blank.

I used 2 10's and the rest where micro..i also use the first three guides for transition and then the rest are straight on the bottom. Re: Simple spiral flipping stick

been using 3 mm micro running guides on flipping sticks to over 10 years now. All spiral wrapped
they work great. I use the Batson ALPS guides, and have yet to have one of them fail Here are a couple old threads from 10 years ago, that may help you out the test done in thread below was on a frog rod that I some times flip with, (still use that particular rod today) and continue to use that set up on all my flipping n pitching sticks [www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] Edited 1 time(s). I see no advantage to micros on a rod like this. The main thing is, if you are using a telescopic blank, to properly position guide # 1 so it won't restrict the telescoping of the rod. Re: Simple spiral flipping stick

Fuji RV6mm, KB5mm and the rest 4mm. The RV has enough height for 2 guides on the side to the 180 but may not work for a "simple" spiral (1 guide on the side), to keep the line off the blank. Re: Simple spiral flipping stick
