Metallic thread

Is metallic thread suitable for guide wrapping by itself? Rods would be salt water inshore, medium light to medium heavy 8-20 lb. line.

Yes, metallic (nylon core) will work. Just keep away from "metalized" or "holographic" as those are likely to not be thread at all.

Yes, work great. The only problem I ever had was with blue. The darker shades of metallic blue faded to silver in a short amount of time. Good luck. MH

I have tried using metallic from ProWrap. I found it broke a lot, and had a tendency to unwrap after pull through, but did look really nice when complete. The folks at Mudhole don't recommend using it as the main wrap but as trim only. At least that's what I was told. Just my two cents.

Use a good thread underwrap first and put metallic on top to dress it up especially for salt water.
