Hi friends,
i'm trying to bullseye the KL16h-KL8H-KL6M-KL5.5L reduction train, but i suppose something is going wrong..... Bullseyeing the guides i have a layout like the following: KL16H <--250mm--> KL8H <--110mm--> KL6M <--130mm--> KL5.5L The space between the 8H and the 6M is less than the space between the 6M and the 5.5L Is this ok or i've done something wrong???? You be starting the wrong way - instead of trying to bullseye a certain set of guides, you need to set up using whatever guides it takes to get it right. You might try pulling the 6 out completely and going with the 5.5's on out. You don't necessarily need so many sizes.

Pages 46 and 47 of the Fuji catgalog, downloadable from the Anglers Resource web page, has a good tutorial on the use of the "groups" that Fuji has set up. I've not tried it, but it looks pretty simple. I have done a few Kr rods using only two reduction guides and they seem to work fine. Re: Kr reduction train spacing trouble

Yes, get rid of the sz 6 guide. It's not needed. Lance Re: Kr reduction train spacing trouble

You are OK with the spacing but it would be "perfect" if you would use, as the tutorial suggested, a 5.5M rather than the 6. Page 46 and 47 that you refer to show the reduction train you describe, but also notice that it is used on much longer rods. The reason is that KR Concept is a "MICRO" concept and aims to reduce the line to introduce the flow to a MICRO runner. Page 46 shows MICRO groups, Page 47 shows CONVENTIONAL groups. All of the CONVENTIONAL groups start with a size 20 stripper and reduce down to a size 6 or 7 before the runners. They are presented in groups because the groups space beautifully on the blank. The four guide groups are an exception because Fuji did not design guides for this contingency. Those layouts were developed here for parabolic bend rods and very long rods using a KR set-up. They bulls eye great but the spacing is slightly different due to introduction of a fourth guide. There are no "mix and Match" options presented in the tutorial. We have been explaining this for almost 2 years. PICK A GROUP and you are guaranteed perfect (or very good with four guides) spacing when you bullseye from the stripper to the choke. Doesn't matter if the reduction train is 12 inches long or 36 inches long the guides WILL BULLSEYE every time. Not jumping on you Henry, there are many people in the same boat and this needs to be explained often.
Just PICK A GROUP. As soon as you substitute even one guide, your spacing will instantly screw up. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 04/10/2015 11:29AM by Jim Ising. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
