Are there no size 17 NPS seats, or am I not seeing them?

Thanks - Marc

The standard NPS seats come in 17mm according to the Fuji site, it's the deluxe seats that jump 16, 18, and lastly 20mm.

They list a size 17 in the standard version, but the inside diameter is listed at 18 - I think it's a type-o.

The 18 is just a little too big on the walleye rods I build. I don't mind the size, it actually feels good. But a lot of guys look at it and it just looks big on a walleye rod. I know it's not about looks, but often when a guy doesn't like how it looks, he's not buying it.

Thanks - Marc

Marc,
Consider using a hidden hood reel seat. It fits the hand really well and looks just fine on walleye rods.

This hidden hood reel seat uses a size 16 skeletal reel seat set up with the front hood buried in the cork. So, the holder of the rod feels only cork when fishing.

The grip at the bottom of the picture is a hidden hood grip.

Take care
