Hi All !
Just purchased 2 pac bay quickline 10'4 wt blanks. (4 pc) I am building "twins" for my friend and I to do some czech nymphing. I consulted the pac bay page on guide spacing for these rods and noticed that one of the guides will be on a ferrule (30"). While I understand this is OK....I am not a fan of it. I am hoping Geoff Staples or any other board member who has experience building these blanks has an alternative spacing method that I can start with. Thank you all in advance. Because the greatest stress will occur between any pair of guides, it is sometimes preferred to have a guide directly on the ferrule to relieve stress at that point.

Mr. Kolis,
I don't have an alternate spacing suggestion for you off hand. I would suggest that you modify the spacing to your liking using tape and see if it still casts well (or better.) It's my current belief that most guides can be moved around a bit from their suggested spacing to achieve equal or better function or cosmetic appeal. For example: moving the stripper up or down to accommodate someone's arm reach. The guides that I would be hesitant to relocate are those located on or near the axial point in the tip section of a fly rod. This is the point in the rod's tip or 2nd section that appears not to move when the rod is held horizontally and shaken in tight cycles. -The Batson TEAM BatsonEnterprises.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
