Need input on the Bushido cranking blank

CB78/10-20 for fishing DD22s and DT-16s or would the CB72/12-25 be a better fit for the DD22s?

You're not getting a lot of help, so let me try. I am familiar with Bushido blanks, and they are excellent. Good choice. I don't fish DD22's, but I would expect the heavier action would be better for lures that have as much resistance as these probably do. One thing about fishing a lure that deep is that the need for the slow CB action is not as important as with surface or shallow lures. Make your choice, and if doesn't fit your needs, build another. Bushidos are remarkably inexpensive considering their performance.

Being completely new to rod building, I have yet to have any experience with rods other than those you can get from a factory, That means I have no experience with either blank you mentioned, so my thoughts may not be what you're looking for specifically. With that said, I've been pretty serious about bass fishing for the past 25 years, and crankbaits in general are some of my favorite baits to throw, so I may be able to help.

My personal choice of blanks for the baits you mentioned would be one with the specs of the CB72/12-25. The CB72's slightly "heavier" tip is going to cost you a little bit of versatility if you were to use baits lighter than those mentioned, but it will handle casting baits the size of a DD22 and bigger, a bit better. One downfall of the heavier tip is that it's going to cost you a little bit of feel. For that reason, if this rod will see duty as a "trap" rod, I'd go with the CB78 blank mentioned because of its more lively tip.

The way I see it, it comes down to a choice between power, or feel. For big deep diving baits, I'd take power.

Hello Chuck... we would highly recommend looking at the Bushido CB78/10-20 or the BRAND NEW CB710/15-30 that was specifically designed for the big cranks including the DD22 and the 10XD.
