I am in the process of getting up a order for to build a surf rod with split grip and i wanted to use EVA. I have never used EVA before and i was wondering about the EVA id i need if the butt is .725. I assume i would order 1/2" id. Any other tips on building a surf rod with split grips would be appreciated.
Thanks Re: Choosing the right size EVA

Some depends on how long the overall length from butt to the far end of the foregrip. Blanks can taper dramatically and the bore dia. for the rear grip may be quite larger than for the fore grip. If you don't plan to make a grip with different color inlays, it can be forced down the blank some, but not if using multi-colored/piece grips. Forcing will probably cause the pieces to separate.
