I have a Batson XF865-4 blank and I think it is great (though still waiting to be built). Now I was wondering how the XF864-4 blank compares ... The 4wt blank surprisingly is heavier than the 5wt one, though with a much slimmer butt. Is the 4wt simply the lighter line version of the 5wt, or is there some more difference between them?
Besides how does it compare with the 9' 4wt one? And, yes! I did contact Batson Enterprises, but was simply wondering what someone else would have to say. Cheers, Michal Re: Batson RX8 fly blanks

Objective measurements of a blank's weight, length, action and power are constants. An individual's subjective rating of a fly rod blanks greatly depends upon that person's casting style, casting proficiency and assumptions about the rod's use, and may cause more confusion than enlightenment. I'm pretty sure the XF864-4 is not heavier than the XF865-4. If you are looking at the specs there may be an error - I found a similar error on a Batson Steelhead Blank from the catalog. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
