Crankbait Blank Help!

I have a customer who wants a crankbait rod that will handle the new huge crankbaits ( strike king 10xd/ lucky craft skt ) and he particularly wants the lure weight rated for up to 4 ounces as these lures weigh from roughly 2 ozs to 4 ounces. MHX tells me they have a specific blank for that type of crankbait that will probably be available within a month and a half, but I suppose it's looking like a swimbait blank of some sort until then. Have any of you built a rod for these monster cranks and if so, what blank did you use? Were the results pleasing to the user? Re: Crankbait Blank Help!

Should be several in the Musky blanks. I briefly looked at St Croix and they kist them up to 12 ounces! Re: Crankbait Blank Help!

You might give Swampland Tackle a call. Maybe one of their T1 rods would fit the ticket. The T1 Rod is for Alabama Rigs; but I think it would meet the need perfectly. Swampland Tackle is listed to the left give Lance a call and see what he thinks. Don Campbell don@sensorfishingrods.com Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/26/2014 01:23PM by Donald R Campbell. A mid-range flipping blank would likely fit your needs. Hydra offers a 5 power at both 7'6" and 7'11". Re: Crankbait Blank Help!

I appreciate the suggestions. I just want to make sure the blank allows the crankbait to have the right action while not jarring the teeth out of the user! Re: Crankbait Blank Help!

Chris - I have customers that have been using the SWB956-Blend-MHX blank with the 10XD lures every since they came out and I've received nothing but positive results. On the other hand, we do have blank model CB968-MHX that will be available around 30 days from now. It was designed specifically for the 10XD crank bait or others of that depth. Lots of new MHX additions coming over the Summer & Fall !! Bob McKamey Mud Hole Custom Tackle bobm@mudhole.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
