I have a wood turner friend of mine who helps me turn down cork and now acrylic.
The sequence that is important to this story is as follows. 1. I glue up the cork at home. 2. I take it to my buddy's house and he turns down the cork for me. 3. I take it back home and ream it for the rod that I'm building. Everything is hunky dory. Now enter acrylic into the equation. Steps 1 and 2 are the same but I'm worried about step 3. I'm worried that the cork will ream as usual but when my dream reamer hits that acrylic everything will come to a screeching halt. Can someone advise me on this? What would make this all work? Thanks very much. John M. Re: Question on Acryllic

Hi John,
I've only used acrylic a few times with cork and I was worried about a similar problem so I used a hole saw to cut a hole in it that was slightly bigger than the blank then glued it all up and then reamed reamed the cork. All was then good. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Question on Acryllic

Yes, I think you want to bore the acrylic before mounting it into the cork stack. Take it up just a hair beyond what you know is needed in terms of ID for that specific location where it's going to be mounted on the rod blank.
