I have a 10 ft. 1 pc. boron surf rod blank, hoping someone can tell me the appx. value of this blank. I rebuilt the rod for a customer and he refuses to come get it. I plan on selling it for the rewrap/rebuild cost, but wanted to know the appx. value so I have an idea of how hard it will be to get paid for my work.
Thanks, Jeff Re: 10ft. 1 pc. boron surf rod blank... "value"?

What make and model is it?
Generally, boron rods have little value, but they still have a bit of a cult following that is willing to pay a decent price for them. It really depends on what you have. ............ Re: 10ft. 1 pc. boron surf rod blank... "value"?

Tom, why do you say Boron rods have little value? Some of the finest fly rods I have made were on Rodon blanks, Lamiglas, and Fenwick boron blanks. I also made quite a number of Lamiglas and Fenwick steelhead blanks into excellent fishing tools. I would pick up some of these blanks in a minute if I could find them. They have little value because few folks today will pay very much for them.

Too many people want what is cheap, not what is good and a better value in the long run. I learned years ago to buy quality, not cheap. Cheap never holds up!!! I have only had one rod made on a Rodon blank returned to me for repair every, out of at least 25 that I made and sold. This one the guy slamed the lid of the trunk of his car on it without putting it back it the case I provided. Broke it into 3 sections and impossible to repair. I gave him a 10% discount on making the same rod for him since he loved it so much. Re: 10ft. 1 pc. boron surf rod blank... "value"?

The value of something comes down to what folks will pay for it, not what any of us think they should pay for it.

Tom, you are right, and I have never had a problem getting someone to pay for quality and value. Re: 10ft. 1 pc. boron surf rod blank... "value"?

Thanks guys..... it didn't have any model number or any writing on it.. Was custom built by someone. Sounds right about the cult following.... the guy seemed very proud of what it was, but still doesn't want to pick it up...lol. I'll deal with it... :)
Thanks again, Jeff Re: 10ft. 1 pc. boron surf rod blank... "value"?
