Now that Gudebrod is gone again can anyone recommend a good replacement, I have tried others but find them to be of poor quality with the thread actually tied in a knot to fit the spools in some instances. I like the 4 oz spools especially in black. Has anyone used Robinson Anton?

I have been super happy with Pro Wrap.

I have been happy with Pac Bay threads. Bingham carries it, as do a few others. In addition, Bingham and Schneider's did have a pretty decent selection of remaining Gudebrod.

So far I have only used the metallics in that brand. I use them for trim bands and in weaves. They are very good threads for that purpose. I have not used their regular thread.

I'm too more than happy with the ProWrap offer (I don't use NCP and never use CP).

Pro-Wrap has worked well for me too. I can't see any major difference from Gudebrod. I've used only the regular nylon. It's very good stuff and there are many color choices.

I have been using Pro wrap and Sulky love them both. Never had a problem with them. If there is something better I would like to try it.

Ed,

We carry 4 ounce spools in nylon and Perma Color (NCP). This is in size D. The sizes match the diameters of Gudebrod size D. The colors are currently limited to black, scarlet and dark blue.

We stock 47 colors in size A & D. typically the size A thread comes in 100 yard spools and the D comes on medium size spools of about 1 ounce. In May we should have size A and C on one ounce spools. Later, we hope to add size E/EE.

Merrick Tackle carries Makoi Wrapping Thread for those who have accounts. They offer wholesale prices along with shipping discounts.

To see our current color selection go to
[www.makoithread.com]

Click on the "Stock" button to see thread and spool sizes.

Although not listed on the web page, we do carry a selection of metallic thread.

We only ship to the lower 48 and at one fixed shipping cost.

Thank you,
Don
