is CP needed over snakskin Exp users only

I have made lots of builds but I have never used snakeskin so is CP needed on snakeskin before using epoxy or Spar Vanish as I my use Spar Vanish in place of epoxy so this is a question for those that have used both Epoxy and Spar Varnish to do this. The issue is that without CP the skin will darken severely and look terrible. I use CP to adhere it and completely coat it. There was a very nice article in a previous RodMaker issue. Re: is CP needed over snakskin Exp users only

You should use CP not just on but under snakeskin, to adhere the skin to the blank as well as to prevent discoloration. Re: is CP needed over snakskin Exp users only

Every thingI heard about not useing CP causes me to put one coat under and three on top prior to epoxy.
