I was wondering if someone could explain to me how these grips are done?
He can put any pictures, symbols, abaone, he wants, the company says its a rubber compound, someone has also told me its a acrylic? those look like abalone over a core then topcoated. the team ones are painted with decals. there are some acrylics that will give a similar look but not usually as brilliant as the abalone. the ones ken refers to that i did are set in a polyester resin and turned not coated with finish.
i wonder what they are trying to patent. they look like a variation of grips that have been done by many builders for years Re: Question for the Pro's

Yea there on a base in the middle but I don't know that that is either.

The short ramps in color can be done by turning reel seat shims, (or anything else, for that matter, but shims are probably the lightest) painting, then coating with epoxy (wrapping epoxy), applying decals with clear backgrounds, then applying a couple more coats of epoxy. The abalone with bending in two directions is something I haven't figured out.
