Removing Decorative Butt Cap that has Pro Paste

Morning all, quick question. I need to remove a butt cap that I applied with Pro Paste. Will a heat gun work to remove the cap/button?

Thanks!

Scott

Not sure if your butt cap is metal, but if yes, then a heat gun used gently works fine. If it isn't metal, you might consider going the boiling route. Put the end in a zip lock and immerse in boiling water for 10-15 minutes. The sooner you do it, the easier it will be to remove.

Thanks Terry. It is metal and has been on a few months at least so you will prob go the heat gun route.

Thanks again!

Now is a good time to see how well you glued it up. Heat gun is wha ti'd do. What did you use for an arbor? I've had gimbals glued to teh FC arbors so tightly that teh glue loosened on teh blank and teh entire gimbal came off with the arbor still inside.

Thanks Billy. Its just the butt cap i need to take off so no arbor involved. Its a wood handle rod and like an idiot i put the cap on and need to sand it some more so i need to put like and old piece of rod on there so i can sand the whole piece on the rod lathe.
