I know you'vre done tests of CP vs No-Cp wraps and concluded that the CP wraps were only slightly less strong (10%) and that difference was within the margin of error for your tests. (Right?) Two questions: (1) were the wraps finished with epoxy and (2) would you expect the same results if spar varnish were used?

Not sure if there was any margin of error for the test, but that should have been much less than 10%. I'd have to go back and look up the original article which I think was in one of the first few issues. I think the 10% difference was the same with or without epoxy.

if i would wrap fuji KB/KT micro(without forhan's lock) is the 10% could be more essential to guide holding strength ?
for now i always avoid regular nylon, but in some shop they offer regular thread kit with good price

What we found, was that you will destroy the guide frame before you will tear the guide out of the wrap, with or without CP. It's just not an issue.

As far as straight single foot pull outs, that's a different story but is also independent of CP. The only thing that can stop that is some sort of security wrap.

Tom i also apologize for jumping in and asking another one.
Some people say that if you use CP then the finish does not quite reach the blank satisfactorily. Thus they avoid using nylons and go only with colorfast thread. True or False?

The point of CP is to seal the thread so the epoxy cannot penetrate into the thread. The epoxy does not need to reach the blank - the CP will reach the blank.

If you read the original article, you'll note that the ability of a guide and wrap to prevent twisting (stability) was a direct result of getting something, whether it be CP or epoxy, in the tunnel. This creates a sort of "shelf" so that the guide foot sits on a wider, flatter area instead of a just a round rod blank.
