Just wondering what is the difference , if any, from a salt water blank compared to a freshwater blank? I know the components, ie. eyes, handle material might be effected by use in salt water as compared to fresh water, but what about the blank? I see a number of blanks listed as salt water blanks---fly blanks as well as rig blanks---is there a diffence in the resin the manufacturer uses? Will a fresh water blank hold up if used in salt water conditions? Re: Salt Water fly rod

No difference in the blank. Re: Salt Water fly rod

The manufacturer is simply listing the blank as a saltwater model. Sometimes a manufacturer will list two blanks, same line weight or power, for fresh and saltwater. They will choose a heavier model, however, for their saltwater listing.
The blank has no idea if you're using it in fresh or saltwater. ............. Re: Salt Water fly rod

In GENERAL salt water blanks of the same "line weight" are faster than their fresh water counterparts; salt water blanks are built for distance casting, fresh water blanks are built for delicate delivery. It takes a sophisticated fly angler to identify the difference. I'm not sure I'm one of them. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
