Minima Guide Set Up on Spinning Rods

Wondering what you guys are using for running guides on spinning rods with Minima's. I have been back and forth between XSVXG06 spinning style frame, and the XF4XG06 fly style frame.

For the butt guide I almost always use the M style, and SV style for transition guides. Rigt now I am looking at spinning rods to be used with light (4-8#) mono to be specific.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks - Marc

Keep it simple - that's all I can handle!

One - other question - do you usually run the Chrome finish or TiCH finish M4's?

Thanks,

Marc

Chrome. Not that it makes any practical difference.

I've used quite a few of the size #4 micro guides with excellent results, but that shouldn't be a surprise as I've used the #4 M guides for many years. Have some of the new #3s, but haven't used them yet.

I just finished a spinnerbuilt on a 12wt. fly rod with a fuji sk seat. I used a 20, 10 then 4s out to an m type tip.

For light (1/32 to 1/4 oz) spin rod hard to beat the Match frame in 16/8/5 for transition then Fly frame size 3 to tip.

Marc,
I've used the Tich frames on a few rods that I fish saltwater exclusively and have not had any issues with the plating if that's what you are concerned with. Also I have a few set ups similar to what you mention, and i have been running either 4's or 5's in the fly frame. Clearance really isn't an issue with these guides so I have not had any issue using smaller sizes.

Kind Regards,

Brook Oliva
