Hi Fellow Rod Artists
I am a newbie. I got a great deal on a Pacific Bar RW-3L. It was very gently used for about a month. I got it for $150 shipped to NJ Is there a place on the forum where I can go and read all the previous newbie questions, without having to put ya'll thru answering the same questions time and time again? I'd like to get an idea on what supplies would be sufficient for a beginner (scizzers, epoxy, books,..). Maybe the easiest thread to work with, or forgiving epoxy, how fast to spin for threading or epoxying etc. I am buying a couple TRL 7 ft 20-40lb rod blanks with assembled handles off @#$%&, (the guy who sells them will send me a pair of rods for $40. I got a degree wheel off mudhole, and I want to experiment with doing Acid Wrapping 1 of them My youngest daughter is off to college, so the house will be empty, and I figure this will be a great hobby for the winter. Sorry for the long post, Looking forward to getting to know you all!! Phil Re: Newbie-Questions

I'm a new builder as well, and there is literally no question that you could possibly have that you can't find using the "search" feature. That said, the experts on here are very forgiving and understanding of repeat questions. I wouldn't be concerned about asking any question here if you are not 100% confident in your understanding of the skill.
Good luck with the builds. Re: Newbie-Questions

Check your local library for rodbuilding books as well. Suggested authors: Kirkman, Clemens, Vivona Re: Newbie-Questions

Hi Phil,
Welcome to the wonderful world of rodbuilding and this forum. The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked, however the search function using all dates will help you a lot. Tom Kirkman's book is very good and contains excellent basics, Dale Clemen's books are considered as rodmaking Bibles and Billy Vivona is a decrorative wrap and thread legend. Good luck with your building and it is ADDICTIVE!!! ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Newbie-Questions

Keep your first build and NEVER re-do it! It will be your wonderful 'measuring yard stick' for the rest of this fun, addictive activity./hobby. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
