I have placed an order for stuff along with this seat but the seat is on backorder. I'd like to start working on the grip in the meantime. Does anybody know offhand what size I need to bore for the inlet, or have one of these laying around that they could measure for me? Edited 1 time(s). Already sent them a request too, Bill. Just thought I'd throw it out there to see if I could get lucky and save a day or two. Re: Struble U-40 Inlet Size

The inlet for a struble U-40 is slightly over 3/4". I use a 3/4" pen making barrel trimmer to cut the inlet into cork grips and the fit isn't overly tight. At work now so I can't to a precise measurement for you.

Thanks Jeff, but I somehow put in the wrong model. It's a U24, rather than a U40, that I'm looking for dimensions on.

Sorry Mick, I erred in my response. I meant to say that the Struble U-20 and U-24 hoods are a little over 3/4". The upper hood for both is the same diameter, but different in appearance. Wood inserts are interchangeable. Re: Struble U-24 Inlet Size

Thanks Jeff. So I would be safe in boring a 3/4" hole for the time being and shaving it down to fit later? Re: Struble U-24 Inlet Size

Since I'm in work and unable to verify my measurements (though I'm 99% sure) I'd rather go home and measure before I give you advice that costs you.

Mick,
I Googled and found a contribution I made on this subject on Rodbuildingforum. In the post I reference that my barrel trimmer is .745 and that for cork the fit was good with U-20/U-24. I'll check when I get home this evening, but in the mean time someone else may chime in with measurements. Are you fitting into cork or wood? Jeff, the first 1/8" will be ivory, then cork. Re: Struble U-24 Inlet Size

Mick, just measured the O.D. of a U-20 hood at .769. Hope this helps. Jeff Re: Struble U-24 Inlet Size
