Pat
Thanks for doing the right thing. I have my copy on my book shelf with my other Weaving related material. I felt a great loss when he passed. Kerry Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/26/2012 02:36AM by Kerry Hansen. Re: When Did Weaving On Fishing Rods First Begin?

When one sees the amount of instruction and the level of detail in Arts' work, sharing instantly comes to mind. When I was in my infancy of learing the art I asked several of the premier 'weavers" in the area for assistance, of course they would not divulge the information needed. I understand that one learns thru trial and error and it is their perogative to share or withold techniques. The gent that shared the most on the weaving technique was Doc Ski, another was Fishstix who took me under his wing and shared several "tips" that I still use today, each answered the call for aid with requisite effort. It was this sharing that the learning curve was lessened. I still converse with them from time to time with problems and ways to mitigate them. As stated, I wil continue to investigate a path forward on this topic. Have a Great Memorial Weekend.

I didn't know Doc at that time, but have no doubt that he would have helped me. I learned from Art when he wrote the two articles in the old RodCrafters journal as well as years of emails. Art was very Knowledgable on many topics including being a world class musican and would play in some of the big symphonies. I was amazed with the planning he put into the house he had built. He had a piece of property that Shell (I believe) wanted so he made a trade with them for a piece that was on the coast line (waterfront) he was very protective of the eel grass (I think that was the kind) and was hard on the boaters that would sip thru it and chop it up. Anyway the piece of property he got also had a very old barn that was constructed with big timbers that Art was so happy about because they were "WALNUT". He was in the planning phase to use the lumber he was going to get from them to make furnature.
