Fishing rod help-moved to Sequim WA.

I have been absent for a while. We moved from Montana to Sequim Washington so my wife and I could help her folks some. I am getting a shop added to the house we bought and will finally have an area I can set up and post a sign "Cigar Country".
Any builders from that area, I would appriciate your input as to the couple of salt water rods I should build for my self. I lived in Alaska for a long time and fished Halibut, Cod (jigging), All my salmon fishing was in rivers. I mainly fish fly rods for trout for the past 8 yrs. Any suggestions are welcome and would be interesting to me. I bought a boat from a friend and can't wait to get back to some saltwater fishing. I will also be able to go see Batson's facility, I hope, as well as going to meet the people at Utmost Enterprises!!! Hope to also meet some builders from that area. ANY THING i GET BACK WILL AT LEAST BE FUN TO THINK ABOUT AND MAYBE BUILD....

If you're going to make the 4 plus hour drive to Woodland from Sequim, feel free to arrange a trip to see us.

If I moved to Sequim, I'd call Karry at Batson for a fishing report before my boxes were unpacked!

You have Batson and Pacific Bay both in your area to visit and Utmost Ent. to buy from. Saves some time and gas from an Angler's run.

Karry, Thanks so much for the wonderful information. As soon as my shop is finished I will do that thing we often don't have time for-Build myself some rods-. I printed this page out and again thank you for your time and the sharing of this information which will save me from the usual trial and error of moveing to new waters and figuring it out from scratch. Can't say enough about all the info you gave me, took all the guess work out of these builds!!!!!!!

First - welcome to Sequim. The local saying is "I may not have been born here, but I got here as fast as I could!" Come on over to Fisherman's Outlet (Utmost Enterprises). We are in the store Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 and can open the store on weekends by appointment. Being centrally located smack dab in between both Batson's and Pac Bay, we are able to offer all of the products from both companies. We also have closeout blanks that are not listed on the website and tackle for local fisherman. We can work up a quote based on Karry's recipes if you want to give you an idea of what you would be looking at price wise. Give us a call if you need directions (800) 588-6678 or send an email to utmost39@aol.com if you have any questions. We check emails all weekend.

Thanks Mick. I get home from work in Wyoming on May 21 and will be hauling my boat over with me to it's new home!!! I have an account with you guys and look forward to meeting you. My wife and I plan to be out fishing by Thursday the 24th. I will be home for three weeks and will contact you to get one of those setups going. I will write an e-mail soon to get it put together and get one built. I am very excited to get back to some salt water fishing. I love fly fishing for trout but have missed the salt water since we retired out of alaska in 03. I very much look forward to building some salt water rods as most of what I did in Montana was fly rods and light spinning. Can't wait to be able to work on larger diamiter rods where you can do more thread work. Thanks for the response, see you in a couple of weeks.
