Just out of curiosity, say two identical blanks are built -one with NGC (or 27x) and the other using the old school of guide placement. Would there be a visible difference in the casting distances achieved? For clarity sake, let's assume twin 6'6" blanks tossing lures of 1/2oz max using the same reel/line/leader setup. I know NGC and 27x will transalate into a lighter rod and a more responsive tip action but let's put that aside for a moment and just talk about casting distances. Thanks for any input.

Yes, by a small amount. About 3% to 5% more distance with the NGC, assuming that both systems have been properly set up.

Hi Tom. Thanks for the quick reply. In your opinion, what is the most critical component of the NGC or 27x (or even the Rapid Choke) system? Is it the position of the choke guide, or its size or the butt and transition guides or something else.

I think guide frame height of the first guide trumps all else as it also sets the approximate position of the first guide, than position of the choke guide. After that everything else sort falls into place quickly.

I'm with Mr. Kirkman except I think the percentages may be larger.

Choke and butt guide locations, along with the right frame height on the butt guide.
