Ferrule ?

So I purchased one of the brass / chrome plated reinforced ferrules from Mud hole and received it today. I have to say I am not impressed at all.
This thing is about the cheapest ferrule I have seen. The ferrules I pulled off of these old rods are better than what I just received. I know they sell the high dollar nickel silver version for 5 x the price however I dont need anything that high dollar. Is there an alternative which will give me a better quality but not be in the $40 price range ????? Heck the one I received had a plug which was hollow. Maybe thats normal today but years ago when I was actively building it was not... Thanks Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/14/2012 01:24AM by Casey Abell. Re: Ferrule ?

I'm assuming you received straight ferrules? Are the ferrules on the rod step downs? Step downs are very difficult to find, even used ones may be pricey. The straight will still work OK. Re: Ferrule ?

Since most companies stopped using metal ferrules about 40 years ago, you can't expect to have many choices in such designs these days. There simply isn't much market for them.
