Does anyone have suggestions for sourcing blank scraps for repair sleeves and such? My immediate need is a small dia fiberglass over sleeve for a rod tip repair. I'm always looking for broken and cheap garage sale stuff for this but I have nothing right now.

Mike,
Go to your local good will or salvation army store. Many times you can get rods for 25 cents or so. You can also go to sporting goods houses that sell rods and they often have a charity bin for donated rods. If you talk to the manager and tell him what you need them for, they can often be obtained at no cost.

You cal also check pawn shops for a rod that you may have to pay 50 cents to $1 each.

Take care

Mike
Try Janns NetCraft on the left, they normally have a bin in the showroom with tip sections for sale in it.

If push comes to shove ther is always wally world but that would cost more.
I've gotten parts from Jann's also because they are close. before they remodeled my local Cabelas I used to get pieces there. they had a barrel in the "cave" with broken pieces and labeled them "ice rod parts" most i ever paid was $2.00 for a tip section that still have useable guides on it..

BTW how small you looking for?

I have yet to find a rod (although I am constantly looking...) at my local Goodwill or Sally or ARC that I would use to repair a decent rod or extend a blank. I think it makes more sense to buy an inexpensive, new fiberglass or graphite blank. The other option, if you like killing time on a weekend, is to check out your local garage sales
