Has anyone hd the same experience that has happened to me? I have a Renzetti lathe with a typical 110 v. turning motor that is controlled thru a sewing machine foot pedal. For some reason after a long spell of no use it now spins in the opposite direction that it always turned. I did not change any wiring but I did not think it could run in the opposite direction by itself. Any help would be appreciated. Re: power wrapper

Either that motor needs an electrician or an exorcist. Re: power wrapper

Robert,
I assume that there is now a twist in the drive belt to the headstock from before. Good luck Roger Re: power wrapper

Robert,
I know that with my drying motors if I apply to much pressure it will change directions, you could possibly try grabbing the chuck at a slow speed and seeing if it will reverse maybe? Re: power wrapper

I have a drying motor that if I put the juice on and off several times it will change direction Bill - willierods.com Re: power wrapper

Its easy to change directions on an AC gear motor like the ones used for drying. just hold the belt pully for a second while the power is on, then the magnatisms reverse, reversing the motor. Now, I believe my wrapping motor in my amtac wraper is DC and if the wrapping direction gets reversed, there is a major problem or I twisted the belt to the chuck. I am guessing that all of the motors used on this brand lathe - power wrapper are 110v AC universal brush style motors - similar to typical sewing machine motors.
The direction of these motors is set by the internal position of the brushes with respect to the armature and won't be changed, unless the internal brush wires are flipped from their normal location. Take care Roger Re: power wrapper

My AmTAc power wrapper will change direction if you switch it on/off while in dry mode. Re: power wrapper

Todd,
Yes, but aren't you switching off the little timing motor that is hooked to the dryer and not the bigger wrapper motor? I believe that we are talking about the wrapper motor, not the dryer motor. Roger Re: power wrapper

Roger, you are correct my case was with the drying/timing motor. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
