I've been doing foam core carbon grips for awhile now and I always seem to have a problem removing the core from the mandrel after I put the seal coat over the core, the epoxy seems to be going in around the edges and gluing the grip to the mandrel. Anyone else seem to have this problem, and have come up with a solution?

LIghtly coat the mandrel with paraffin wax prior to mounting the core. After the grip is complete, you should be able to give the grip a quick twist which will snap it loose from the mandrel.

I do like what Tom says and coat the mandrel with wax. I also take a sharp skew chisel and make a small cut in where the mandrel meets the grip in both the front and back that helps the grip pop off.

When I coat any handle

I use a smaller mandrel I will put one two wraps of tape where the ends will be Then put two ?? arbors of tape to make it snug - not tight This way the finish will not go onto the mandrel there is room Easer to get off

what was said above will work, what I use is 1 wrap of tape with a little over lap an use Bees WAX it is a little more stickey than candle wax [ heavyer ] I can see what is covered easyer

I use plumbers Teflon thread tape..................nothing sticks to it!
