A good few years back I used to build light weight fly rods and other light weight rods using Talbot size 60 thread. This thread is finer than the usual size A Gudebrod and has less bulk on the wraps and also carries less varnish resulting in less weight. Size #30 is about the same size as size D Gudebrod, Size #40 is the equivalent to size A , and size #60 is finer again.Talbot have been out of business for some time and I no longer have any sourse or supply of this fine #60 size thread-That is untill today! I have discovered that Madiera now produce this size thread in their Polyneon range, and Sulky also produce a size #60 thread. I have not seen size #60 thread carried by any of the sponsors, but a quick google of "size 60wt thread" revealed a number of suppliers. I now have several spools on their way to me here for some light saltwater fly rods I am currently occupied with. Just thought some of you may be interested in this finer thread for lighter projects!! Re: Thread for wrapping Micro guides and Other Light Weight Rod Projects

Earl, Also take a look at 3/0 silk thread. It is very strong and a very popular solution when wrapping micros. Re: Thread for wrapping Micro guides and Other Light Weight Rod Projects

Hi Earl,
Madeira have been making #60 thread for a long time. Unfortunately it's not available in as large a colour range as their #40 size polyneon. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Thread for wrapping Micro guides and Other Light Weight Rod Projects
