I seem to have forgot the exact method of getting the diameter of a blank using a piece of tape, i know it was simple, but i just want to get it exactly right. And also lets say i wanted to do a wrap with 6 or 8 axis, how do i get it so that they are all even using the piece of tape. I vaguely remember the method for that.
Thanks your help is appreciated. Re: Getting Diameter and Axis with Tape.

Wrap the tape around the blank and then cut it parallel to the blank. Unwrap. Measure the length and divide by 3.14 for the diameter at that point.

if looking at just the Diameter I would use a caliper, I would use the tape method for a good Circumference measurement Re: Getting Diameter and Axis with Tape.

Calipers are clearly more accurate. If he had a set of calipers measure the diameter directly then multiply the diameter by pi(~3.14) to get the circumference. Re: Getting Diameter and Axis with Tape.

If you use tape, you don't have to multiply by 3.14. Once you unroll the section from around the blank and measure it, that measurement is the circumference of the blank. Only when you are measuring from edge to edge like when using a caliper do you need to use pie in the equation. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
