Hi

I want to built a rod with fuji stripping guide... I'm hesitate with this models KWAG, TKWSG, TKWAG... I'm hesitate with sic or alconite, and titanium or polished stainless frame. The titanium series is very expensive, but I want a guide with a good corrosion resist.

It's for a 8wt rod in size 20 and 16mm for saltwater. Sorry for my poor english.

Me, too. Go with Titanium, Alconite® and never look back.

I swear by the titanium but prefer my SIC. My customers and I fish heavy salt and never had a problem with funk titanium.NEVER!

I have completed one 8wt with the stainless/alconite k series guides, and am starting another with the titanium/alconite k series guides. They are expensive, but you're only using two of the guides. Just me, but I can't really tell the difference when casting between alconite and SiC, and since alconite is much cheaper, and supposed to be more fracture resistant, I would use those.


I also have used the guides that Ken Preston pointed out above, and they are an unbeatable value, and lighter in weight than the Fuji K guides.


What do you plan to use for running guides?

Am tack titaniums are great! Almost all of my sw fly rods have these now. Strong, corrosion proof and slick. Not sure a K series is needed for a fly rod other than look in my persoanl opinion. Fly line diameter doesn't behave like braid so might be overkill but if it is a look you are going for, rock on.. 9 wt and under titanium with nanloites or Fuji's with alconite, 10 weight and higher for big critters love the SIC rings. Spend the extra if you can and get the titanium as it will last for a very long time.
