Gudebrod #5274 Chestnut with color preserver. Add gold metallic or NCP white trim and it looks very nice. Re: Thread

Alberto, I'd probably prefer the chestnut from gudebrod as well. Don't overlook the possibility of using japanese Silk size A thread also in chestnut or med. brown, also I believe a metallic silk chestnut for some highlight. These are rich, subtle colors would go very well with the brown blanks. Solly has also a favorite light green silk that is a bit contrasting, but yet has a unique blending for this brown. For a contrasting trim match the govt. or pale gold might be a good choice. I just love the metallic gold silk thread too. I've noticed some of the older brown fly rods had the combination of brown with yellow. When in doubt, or want of being 'creative', go with the closest color match to the blank. If the blank is very light the beige would work which would darken a bit after applying color preserver. two cents worth. Rich Solyrich Custom Rods Re: Thread

[momentoffame.com] [momentoffame.com] This is wrapped on a Lami Certified Pro casting blank (XC84MH). Used Dark Brown with gold trim, gold guides, gold seat - no CP on the wraps. The wrap pictured used White NCP, metallic Gold & Bronze. Handles are Light Brown Clemens Customgrip inlayed with Dark brown trim rings. I fish this rod with a Calcutta 251 & 400. This is a really sweet set-up. Billy Re: Thread
