I am refinishing an old bamboo rod and have begun striping the old finish off using citrisstrip gel. I've noticed that some spots are lighter than others. I am assuming it's due to uneven coating of the gel. How can I fix this? Re: Bamboo Refinishing Project

That's normal for tempered cane. The color changes happen when the cane is flamed. Re: Bamboo Refinishing Project

Thanks for your reply. They were not there before I started stripping so I assumed I did something wrong. They are only maybe a quarter to half an inch long. This is normal? Re: Bamboo Refinishing Project

Are they the bamboo nodes? When all finish is cleaned off they may appear a lighter color. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
