Hey everybody.
I just ordered the Pac Bay Power Wrapper with the deluxe chuck from Donart rods. I want to how many spools it will hold. I have been using a hand wrapper and constantly changing on colors on vibrant rods is a pain. Is there an upgrade I can purchase? Thanks in advance! Edited 1 time(s). I recently bought the XL version, which is the same as your talking about, I think. It comes with the carrage that holds 2 spools. I'm pretty sure I saw an upgrade for a 4 spool carrage.

Thanks for the quick response Jeff. I have the 3XL. Yours is the tubular version?
The upgraded one seems to be 4 vertical spools. Thanks! Re: Thread Carriage On Pac-Bay Power Wrapper??

Yes, I got the tubular also. Love it, first power wrapper for me. Still figuring out the little details on using it. Makes life alot easier....:)
It is a little bit of a pain changing thread with only 2 spool carriage, but sure beats the 1 spool hand wrapper I was using....lol Matter-O-fact, I just broke down the hand wrapper and stored it in a box in the top of the closet. Good Luck, Jeff Re: Thread Carriage On Pac-Bay Power Wrapper??

I bought the Pacbay a year os so ago and wouldn't be without it. I've even come up with a tension device that I can use to convert it to a hand wrapper if I need to.
I'd like to buy an ECO wrapper as well for small jobs but they are not available over here in the UK. They use piano wire to tension the thread, does anyone know what gauge wire they use? Thinking about building something similar as I lke the idea of being able to lock the rod in the V shaped opening which I guess is lined with rubber, (is that right)? Once you get used to th wrapper, I am sure you will find ways to modify it. Most of us have. I am in the process of building a Renzetti (which I also own) style thread carriage for my Batson, Pac Bay and rod Smith. Which are all basically the same unite Good Wraps Bob Re: Thread Carriage On Pac-Bay Power Wrapper??

I want one like the renzetti? Can I buy that and attach/ modify it to fit?
Bill- I saw that one from PAC bay. I don't care how many spools? Four seems like enough but the more the merrier. Re: Thread Carriage On Pac-Bay Power Wrapper??

Pac Bay and Batson both have new carriages. It would not be in your best interest t to use a Renzetti Inc. To much weight and a lot of modification. But take that idea and make your own carriage base from heavy window plastic, shower door wheels for alignment for base runners to start. Now look at both units and think out side the box and use their ideas for your thread holder and tension device, next think how you would carry the thread to the rod. This is not rocket stuff. You can make these attachments from every day stuff you can get at Lows, Home Depot or local hardware store. "... My next project is my version of the Wonder Weaver using plumbing parts and heavy foam."
I made one of these last year. I took one of those foam "huggies" that are used for soda cans and cut two 1" sections from the top. After I slid them each onto a PVC end cap I added 90 or so slits around the circumference and numbered them to match. It works pretty well and holds the threads just fine, even for multi-colored weaves. Thanks, Chad Huderle Huderle Custom Rods Prior Lake, MN Re: Thread Carriage On Pac-Bay Power Wrapper??

The plates go on the end-side, You can put the screw so the wing nut is on the outside for easy assembly or disassembly ,you should have flat washers on each side, lock wash is on the wing nut side. You can put the wing nut on the end side for a cleaner look. Good Wraps Bob Re: Thread Carriage On Pac-Bay Power Wrapper??

You can try figure 8ing the belt, not really recommended. You can also try putting putting the thread underneath. What unite do you have? if its a PacBay or Batson I don't think you can revers the motor position. I would call them in the AM. One last thought switch the thread carriage to the other side. Come to think about it that is what I did Good Wraps Bob Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
