Anyone use a Brother P Touch label maker for rod decals? Does it work?

Yes it does. You want to use Testors clear enamel to seal the edges because they have a tenency to lift very easily. What I do is apply the decal wrap over it and leave it over night. The next day I remove the wrap and apply the clear enamel let it dry for about an hour and you are good to go.

Tight lines,

John

Thanks John..............I'm assuming they make a clear tape with different colors for the print? Going to go over a darker rod............

I use a P Touch 2300. It works very well for me. I use white print on a clear label. The only place I could find the tape was through Brother.

Mine hooks up to my computer via USB, and that gives you a lot a flexibility with respect to fonts, layouts, etc. You can even put in graphics.

I have not had a problem with the edges lifting, as John mentioned. I put the label on the on the blank and wrap the ends with thread as trim bands. I then put thread epoxy over l the entire label and thread.

The only thing that I wish was better, was you can see the edge of the label. It is somewhat distinct.

I have used these labels for a while. The problem with the edges lifted is very great with mine. I am using the 1/2 tape white on clear. I have found that I need to use perma seal or perma gloss over the edges and let it dry. Then apply finish. sometimes they still tend to lift.

I used their colored tape for a few years. My issue is when I see one of those old rods, the text has faded so badly that it looks awful. I started using Decal Connection and it is worth the time and cost for me. I did buy the paper that has been sold at the show over the past few years and it works great. I just need some to do the layout for me. If the clear tape is the difference, please let me know. The colored tape that has stayed out of the sun is fine but the rods that really get used look bad.
