You can easily slide on a 1" ID Hypalon grip onto a blank measuring 1 1/8 inch OD when using Rod Bond as the adhesive. It will also serve as a lubricant.

Well, there went one of our best Sponsors !
I have been having trouble getting on their website lately.
As Tom has stated many times, the profit margin on rod building products is very low.

Trick when sliding the grip into position is not to stop until you are where you want it to be. Do it quickly in one motion and the 1 inch will work fine. Add some epoxy above the point on the rod where the grip starts to bind. Spin the grip to insure that the inside is fully coated with epoxy. Coat the rest of the blank lightly(most will be squeegeed off ) and drive it home. If you need to leave room for a butt cap put a piece of tape at the point you need to stop.
