If you are coating your guide wraps, no issue with coating the metallic thread as well. You don't really gain anything, but it doesn't hurt anything.

thanks guys , I have an 8 inch butt wrap with mettalic gold , I thought it may help to keep my over wrap for the diamond design to stay in place better. Re: cp on mettalic thread
