Hi,
I'm a fairly new rod builder. I have a 10' Lamiglass GSB surf rod that I'm rewrapping with concept guides. It was originally built copying a Spinning rod. I'm going to make it in to a casting rod. So the guides will be in different locations My question is: I carefully removed the old guides and wrap with a razor blades. However there is still finish on the blank, in a spiral were the guides were. I was able to get some of it off with the razor balde but I did do some damage to he blank's finish. Is there a chemical that will take it off without damaging the blank's finish, ( laquer thinner, stripper, acetone ie) Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Matt,
Lots of folks use Citrus stripper with good results. Roger Re: Removing old finish for rebuild

Thanks Rodger,
I used Acetone with a rag that seemed to help. I will try the citrus stripper next time. Matt Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
