Help choosing new printer for white decal media

I have been using the Papilio white decal media for ink jets. My old HP printer had a setting for Glossy Photo Paper, and would print a really dark black. It broke, and I picked up a new HP, and it does not have a print setting of Glossy Photo Paper (recomeneded for the decal media). The closest I can get is the HP Premium Plus Photo Paper setting the printer has - but it's no where near the black I used to get.

Looking for a better printer for this stuff, and wondering what you guys use?

Also - is there a white decal media from Papilio that can be used with laser printers?

Thanks,

Marc

I ran into the same problem you describe. My old HP worked great for decals and after it died I got a new HP. The depth of the black wasn't nearly as good as the old printer, even after adjusting the saturation settings. I returned it and got an Epson Artison 710 All-in-One printer. It works great and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks,

You will also find selections in the Photo Shop or Corel software to select specific shades of all colors including black -

Did you look carefully in the Properties in the Print Menu? Usually you can select a ink lay down percentage as swell.

I have not seen an Hp Inkjet that will lock you into a black selection which limits your selection of color.

Yes Papillio does have laser paper - really good stuff if you have access to a laser printer.

Hey Bill - I have a laser sitting next to my ink jet. Which media would you suggest?

Thanks,
Marc

I would always choose a laser over an inkjet if the correct media is used.

I will send you one of my files that uses a black background done with Corel - print it and see if the blank is properly recognized by your printer. I suspect you have a software issue and are not limited by the black ink in the printer.

You can get the ink jet print media from Swampland. I use Corel Paint Shop Pro - I'm pretty computer challenged, and it wasn't hard to figure out.

Bill - does Swampland have the laser print media?

Thanks,
Marc

I have an HP Office Jet J5780 All-in-one. I use Microsoft Office which has a variety of fonts and an option for bold print. With the variety of fonts and bold print I've had no issues with text.

Marc please give us a heads up on what you have done to locate your problem - what are the results - I suspect it will help a lot and clear up this "ink" issue.

I'm using Corel Draw 9. You can buy older versions of it cheap.
