Micro/Spiral Spacing

I am wanting to find out if it's standard to use a stripper and choker guide on a spinning rod when using micros? I would think you would have to.
I want to do a spiral wrap on a casting rod and have seen it stated that some use a #10, #8 and then the runners. On a spiral, using the guides mentioned, how many micros should I use to complete the turn? Is ther a general rule of thumb for spacing on micro guides without buying the wall chart? I will eventually get one but wanted to do one now. Thanks, Ron

Why buy the chart??

I use a 6 then 5's on the turn and then 3's out to the tip on a spiral .

I build only casting rods. I got the following information from a couple builders much more experienced than me. I've used AmTak Ringlocks, but have changed to all Fuji. On any rod that is fished with the rod tip high I spiral wrap. If you reference the top of the rod as 0degrees, I put a double foot 5.5mm on top, at 60degrees I put a 5mm single foot, at 120degrees I put a 4mm, then 4mm to the tip. I've used this on 6'6" light worm/senko rods, 7' med and med heavy rods, up to 7'6" xheavy flippin/punch rods. Not a single failure. Customers first comment is
the guides look funny. After they fish it 1 time, they are sold on micros and spiral wraps.
If you're interested in the guide spacing, send me an email.

Todd

6-5-4 them 3's or smaller to the tip
I would not buy the chart!
For the set up I use, it takes four to complete the turn with the last one just a tad of dead center bottom.

Then static test. I like to keep the line under pressure at the bottom center of the guides closest to the blank

I have followed Steve's advice in the past and am suggesting you do the same! I think that you will be pleased.

For example, if you space it like 6-45°, 5-90°, 4-135°, 3-177,5° and the other thress on 180°, you get an "sharp angle" on the 90 degree guide, as there is too much space between the blank and line sidewise?
How do you get the line more straight, when turning over four guides?
