Information and knowledge, of course, are not the same thing. If you want a factory clone (and that's fine) you can probably find the guide spacing specs on St. Croix's website. You can figure the handle specs from viewing the finished rod in their catalog and arriving at a ratio where an inch of the photo in the catalog represents a certain number of inches on the actual rod. You might also find that they offer their own handle kit for that exact model that will state the lengths of the respective pieces.
Of course, you can learn how to do guide spacing yourself. Here's one article that may help: [www.rodbuilding.org] Either way you choose to go, good luck on your first spey rod. ................. Re: Guide spacing for a 13 & 1/2 foot St.Croix spey rod

Pac Bay and Angler;s Workshop have some very nice and functional spey grips that will work very well with that blank. Re: Guide spacing for a 13 & 1/2 foot St.Croix spey rod

The front handle should be as long as needed for YOU to have a good grip and prodive the needed stroke. The rough size is approx an inch for every foot. In this case 13-14". The rear will be in the area of 5-6" but it also depends on how you hold the rod. As far as the guide spacing, use the factory one if you like as a place to start then do a static test and make adjustments from there. You will also want to look at the sizes of guides based upon wheather you use shooting heads, whole lines and above or below freezing temps. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
