A LB 969 was a blank listed for 5/8 to 2 1/2 oz. lures, don't see any line weight listed. X Fast action, Heavy power.

Jim, What size is the tip, butt, how long is the is the blank, and what color is the blank. I skimmed back to 1980 and could not find that blank model. Besides the model #, does it have the Fenwick logo?

Brown blank, 8' logo grizley fenwick, hard to read the # ?. Could be LB or JB 969,# 12 tip
butt about 1.06 (has cord wrap on butt, with some math work). 96 would be 8', would the 9 be the power?
looking for line rating any other Info. Not sure about the 969, the 6 is hard to read.
Thank you for your time
Jim

You are close but no cigar. Fenwick's answer to the D8 was a blank called a JB969, I know because after looking for a real long time I found 1, mine was a factory wrapped rod. It was/is designated PJ969, I had mine stripped & refinished by a friend who does this at United Composites Rod Co so it was done by a expert. The butt diameter is 1.150 or 1 5/32nd's, the tip diameter is .187 or a #12/64's. Those rods/blanks are rated to throw 2oz_6oz lures, they are a beast of a stick, that being said I'm gonna fish #50 string on mine, I don't think I'll have any problems fishing that at all. I can't wait to ski some Yellowtails across the top of the kelp. The rod you are talking about is a LB969, it's a different animal, without having it in my hands I would think you could fish 25lb _40lb without much trouble, I'm baseing that off of my rod. If you would like to get rid of the rod at any time let me know, I'll give you a fair $price for it. Thanks Ed
