I am looking for a source for a very thin black cork material to use in cork handles as a thin trim accent. I have tried black plastic from dvd cases but find it harder than the cork and have tendency to stand out from the cork. I have also had the same problem with thin eva material. I think a black cork gasket material would work great but do not know where to find.
Thanks Mike Re: thin black cork trim

you can find gasket material at auto parts stores. another material is a fiber sheeting used in electrical supplies. i cant remember what it is called. you can also use veneer and it can be had in different colors and found at most woodworking shops. i also cut my own from wood(blackwood or ebony will give you black). i am sure there are other materials as well. good luck Re: thin black cork trim

Ruberized cork gasket material will be black with small cork flakes in it, the plain black paper gasket material leaves a nice black trim ring where you want it also. All comes in various thicknesses at a gasket material supply. Most decent sized cities have them and they will cut a sheet down to what you need, though they prefer you take a full width of the material. Other colors can be had in rubber like materials, most plumbing stores have an orange/red rubber gasket material I've used. Re: thin black cork trim

Any Auto Parts Store will have numerous types of gasket material that is perfect for trim rings! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: thin black cork trim

Fishstix4U has 1/8 inch burnt cork trim rings which seem to work really well. Not sure if that is thin enough for you, but I like how they lay up for that purpose in my applications. I hope they never stop offering them, since I haven't been able to find them precut anywhere else, and I don't have the skills necessary to make my own!
