I have came upon an orvis 61/2ft, 3oz,3wt Western fly rod blank. It has a 5.0 tip and the butt dia is about 8.5mm or .33465 range. Can anyone tell me some history on this fly rod? Also what's the 3oz in reference to? Thanks gary. Re: Orvis Western fly rod

Gary, I believe what you have is the blank that was used in the HLS Series of rods. The Western was a faster action blank. These blanks predate the Rocky Mtn series and I would think its was made in the early 90's. The 3oz should be the weight of the blank. Re: Orvis Western fly rod
