Looking for a adjustable butt cap..... The rubber screws off and you apply these brass weights that look like washers......This is for a saltwater spinning rod I need to build. Thank You Harry Re: ? about adjustable weight butt cap

If he's building the rod, I don't think those kits come with the rod end insert? I was told that they are to fit certain model BPS rods that already are built with a threaded on butt cap. Re: ? about adjustable weight butt cap

That is true. I had an old busted up bionic blade that I dug the "female" end out of. I looked for some sort of nut that was treaded similar to the cap, but no luck. I bet if you call BPS rod repair, they be willing to part with some broken butts cheap. Just a thought. I looked "high and low" for a similar system but couldn't find one anywhere. i have bought the same one from bass pro. icut away the thin part that covers the washers and sanded the very end to expose the brass wieghts for looks. went to home depot and they helped find a rubber insert that fit perfecctly inthe end of the rod. it even had a litle lip on it so it wouldnt push up inside the rod end. i test fit it into a small piece of junk rod i cut of same diameter anb screwed the male part in. the rubber seemed to get longer as i screwed it in instead of spread out.it is in my rod now and did not split scews in nice, tight and absolutly no were on the inside. when screwed in i can not evev pull it out. i even ttried to ruin the rubber female before with sandpaper, reamer and what ever rubber this is did not even scar or sand. works great scews in and out. i only glued very litle section. working for months now no problems. hope this helps.
thinking outside the box you think of or make anything. Re: ? about adjustable weight butt cap

Try adding as much weight as you can to the butt and gradually removing it as you continue casting. See which weight configuration feels best. Re: ? about adjustable weight butt cap

Harry:
Gotcha. That's why I suggest you begin with a whole stack of removable weights and continue casting and removing weights until the best configuration is discovered. Starting from the assumption that additional rod weight is absolutely necessary, I think this is the ideal proceedure. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
