I'm trying to get some info i need on a G Loomis blank that I need the rod specs for. I have been holding for 11 minutes waiting to talk to an actual person at G Loomis. Ive got a card on the blank that says
P844MAHOGANY spin blank. Does anyone know the power rating, lure rating, and line rating for this blank? Or maybe a direct number of someone I can call? 13 minutes, still holding........

FYI--I have that rod and love it. I throw small plastics rigged as a split shot Carolina rig. Works great and
very sensitive.

P= Popping rod, 84= length (in inches), 4= power. P844. Typically the Poping rods are a little slower action than the MBR or SJR's. From Loomis website:

"A slightly more powerful casting rod designed for fishing the flats, the PR844 is a good choice for a number of different species, including snook, specks, snapper and even small tarpon. Works well with the live bait, but casts spoons, soft plastics and jigs equally well. It is a fast-action rod, but leans towards moderate a bit, which is helpful when fighting big fish. It has sufficient power to handle large permit or jacks out in the gulf, but it's better suited for shallow water. GL3 offers a good blend of sensitivity and light weight."

Popping blanks are a very versatile type blank. They also cross over and work great for various types of techniques for bass and walleye fishing. Before we had blanks designated for crank bait fishing, we were using the popping blanks and the P844 was a definate favorite.
