line through ice rod blanks, where? HT?

Need to find some blanks that can be built for "inline" ice rods, graphite or glass doesn't matter as the builder will be using a spring bobber. Was going to call HT but perhaps someone here can get me to the blanks faster.
Thanks
Buzz

Buzz,
Aren't you trying to accomplish the impossible?
If you are talking about an ice rod that is of conventional length - i.e. 20-30 inches - how are you going to get a decent angle for the line to run into the blank before you run out of blank?

Most ice rods need to have a pretty soft tip for most fishing needs. The combination of a soft tip, short length, makes your request somewhat difficult to satisfy.

However, you might be considering a rod of longer length.

In any event - when ice fishing, if outside, the line is exposed to freezing temperatures. On a conventional rod, the guides will often accumulate a layer of ice which traps the line. In such a case, the rod is tapped against the ice, the ice falls off the guide and you are back in business.

With the nature of an inline rod - I can not figure how one would prevent the line from freezing solid into the blank and stopping further fishing.

Maybe fine in theory - but I can see lots of reasons why - in practice - such a rod is somewhat unpractical.

Good luck in your search.

Roger

Roger, I am not trying to build this rod. I detest rods of any kind where the line runs through the blank. This request is for a hobbyist rod builder who want to build in-line, through the blank ice rods. I am only looking for blanks for him.

Do you know how your customer proposes to clear the ice out of the center of the blank, or does he plan to use these rods only in above-freezing temperatures?

I would recommend the e-glass blanks from Batson. They come in a various lengths and actions. And most of all the price is right.

Phil,
I have no idea. I won't use them for a number of reasons. Thanks Gregg, I will check into those.
