I have to say the writing on that blank is pretty impressive. I gave up on that technique after my first several attempts came out looking like my 3rd grader scribbled on a rod. Re: Congratulations

It's certainly a very clean and professional looking rod. Well done.
Decals are nice, but hand written inscriptions just fit a hand built rod. The ability to hand inscribe information on a round surface isn't easy. I'm no good at it. Wish I were. .............. Re: Congratulations

That is very impressive lettering on a blank. Anyone have any idea on what Matt used to letter the blank and what type of ink???? Getting it that small, clear to read and still looking professional is impressive. Re: Congratulations

Thank you Gary.
And thanks guys. I use a Staedtler brand MarsMatic700 technical drafting pen with opaque white drafting ink. About the smallest size I've been able to keep consistently unplugged is a size 0.25. The smaller sizes, while they work well with translucent inks, seem to have trouble with the high solids content of the opaque ones. I wind up cleaning the tip a couple of times during an inscription. But the 0.25 remains open and operational on a very consistent basis. I wind up cleaning it every half dozen rods or so. Whether I am forced to or not. .......................................... Better to have and not need than to need and not have. Re: Congratulations

Congrats Matt! Your lettering on the blank is truly amasing, I was a professional sign painter when I was younger but still cannot letter that small on a curved surface to save my life Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
