trashcans at boat landings...

stop by local sporting goods store and see if they have any damaged returns - a lot of the time they just go in a trashcan...

pawn shops (might cost you $10)

Flea markets ($5)

Yard sales ($3)

and so on.

For heavier repairs, old Shakespeare CB radio attennas work great.

It's like asking for gold, or so it seems. I've called many people and offered to pay a fair price for some scrap. If you have to spend time scrounging trash cans then stripping off guides and other junk that ends up on scrap like duct tape you are going in a hole. I do have to say that one fellow builder was willing to part with some but that was the only time.

Well, I know for the past years attending seminars at Lamiglas, they gave the attendees both glass and graphite scrap, GREAT COMPANY. Bob Balcombe bought an arm load of broken rods for a song where he got good as new components plus all the blank stock. Plus a lot of other plusses they offer other stuff to attendees what a great company!

I have actually gotten donations from my customers in the form of old rods they no longer wanted taking up space in their garage or basement, just ask, you maybe surprised.

I've gotten some from flea markets. Usually damaged in some way or missing guides. Dealers will take $1 for them.
